Govardhan Pooja

 •Govardhan Pooja is a major festival of Hindus. 

 • People also know it by the name of Annakut.  This festival has great significance in Indian folklore.  In this festival the direct relation of human with nature is seen.  This festival has its own beliefs and folklore.  In Govardhan Pooja, Godhan i.e. cows are worshiped. *

 

 •It is stated in the scriptures that cow is holy just like Ganga in rivers.  The cow is also said to be the form of Goddess Lakshmi.  In the same way that Goddess Lakshmi provides happiness and prosperity, the cow mother also provides wealth in the form of health from her milk.  Their calf grows grain in the fields.  In this way the cow is revered and revered by the entire human race.  Govardhan is worshiped on the day of Kartik Shukla Paksha Pratipada only to pay homage to cow and cow as its symbol. *

 •When Krishna lifted the Govardhana mountain on his smallest finger for seven days to save the people of Braj from torrential rain .
